The beginning is the most important part of the work.

Principal's Message

\

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),

I hope that you all had a wonderful and restful summer.  Welcome to Lafayette Learning Center Preschool! My name is Kimberly Richards and I am the Interim Principal of LLC.  We are so excited to offer your child a well-rounded, positive, engaging, inquisitive, nurturing, responsive and supportive experience throughout the 2023-2024 school year.

Lafayette Learning Center Preschool serves resident children between the ages of 3 and 5 with an experience that allows all children to grow and develop in every area of development and learning.  At the LLC Preschool, our classes are built on an inclusive community, with a variety of activities tailored to all students with or without disabilities.  In addition, we have specialized classes for students with disabilities who receive intensive ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) and/or specialized preschool instruction.

This school year LLC is going to implement mixed-age groupings within all of our classrooms.  According to the New Jersey department of Education Preschool Program Implementation Guidelines, a multi-age setting allows teachers to foster an emotionally secure environment for children to grow, learn, take risks and experience success. While children are developing social skills, learning responsibility and engaging in more complex play, teachers are generally more child-centered, as they must adeptly accommodate individual strengths, interests and needs. The two-year time period helps ensure that teachers, parents and children know each other well and develop a working partnership.

Throughout the day teachers plan developmentally appropriate activities that encourage students to strengthen their language, cognitive, physical and social-emotional skills through the Creative Curriculum.  Content areas are carefully integrated into these major areas of development so students can take part in daily, rich literacy activities, hands-on math experiences, gross monitor, exploration in science, art, and more.

Our Home & School Association (HSA) is open to parents of all children in the school! We invite new and returning families to participate in the HSA and join us in this important organization. It’s a great way to get involved with the school and your child’s educational experience.  If you are interested, please email Victoria Escobar at LafayetteLearningCenterHSA@gmail.com or via cell phone 201-486-4126.

Our priority at LLC is to develop the whole child (socially, emotionally, physically, academically, etc…).  However, it takes a village to ensure that we develop the whole child; therefore,  we would like to thank you all in advance for working collaboratively with all of our stakeholders – students, teachers, administrators, board of education members, central office personnel and community members – as we have a common goal in ensuring your child ascends and enjoys their experience at LLC.

Sincerely,

Kim Richards, Interim Principal
